The Ducks Go Marching

This week, I wound up in Little Rock, AR for a few days. Which was very nice, if I do say so myself.

To backtrack, there is a hotel in Memphis I have always wanted to check out, called The Peabody. My grandfather has been telling me about it for years, because there are ducks that live there, and they come marching down from their room at the hotel every morning (in the elevator) to the lobby, and then march back up every afternoon. There is a whole story about these hunters who used them as decoys and they wound up in the fountain.... Anyway as it turns out, they have a Peabody in Little Rock too, and I was finally able to see my ducks!

Quality Family Time

I was surprised to see my cousin Heather bring in gifts for Matt, BA and myself on my birthday at my mom's house. We don't do gifts with the cousins after 30 (I don't know WHO made up that rule). Little did I know that Heather had found her dream gift and has actually stocked up on these! Too funny.

Here is a little glimpse into a typical get together with all of us. With Flarp.

The Fuller Birthdays

My family has a thing for birthdays. No matter HOW old we are, my mom still likes to have little "birthday parties" for us with the family. I'm talking the plates, napkins, gifts, decorations, cakes.... not that I'm complaining! We always get together with my mom's sister and her kids. It's a Fuller/Fisco/Kubach celebration every time one of us hits another year!

Below are our three cakes, in August and September- thanks Mom! (And can you tell that Brendan likes to help us blow our our candles?!)

Put In Bay

First off, let me just announce that this is my 200th post. Yay for that!

Now, what it's really all about! I'm happy that my 200th post is about a fun and happy time. Last weekend, a big 'ol group of us went to Put In Bay, in Lake Erie. Picture Pleasure Island from Pinocchio, without the weird animal kids. The only real reason people go there is to party, and rent golf carts. It's a popular place for bachelor parties, long weekends, etc.

Toni was in town from Australia, so we had it planned for weeks. We rented hotel rooms, got our ferry tickets, and were off to enjoy the day and night at PIB. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Mission Accomplished

Old roof gone, new roof on! As you can see from the picture below, the roof was not in stellar shape.

I can't believe I didn't take a picture of the whole thing done, but this is our new "Rainbow Green" roof. Who named that shingle?! Evergreen, Wintergreen.... but Rainbow Green?

The best part of the week was being able to sit outside and see this, EVERY night:

Thanks to not working, I have made it up to the island four times this summer. I don't think I've been able to do that since middle school. And maybe, just maybe, I'll make it up one more time before tour starts. I have really been able to use my boat, and feel more comfortable on it. I made my first trip to and from town alone this week, which was a big deal for me!

Back Up North

I'm headed to Canada again tomorrow morning. However, this is not quite a vacation. We are putting a new roof on our house up there. I mean, I'm not putting the new roof on, roofer dudes are. The materials were barged out last week, and the labor starts tomorrow. Sooooo.... Dear Old Dad called to see if I could go with him this week to help out. It looks like I'll be spending the week pulling nails, ripping up shingles, and making 80,000 trips from the house to the boathouse with roof garbage. And I'm sure that will lead to things such as rototilling the beach, pressure washing siding, staining wood, cleaning the boat with a toothbrush, etc.

The Job Hunt

IS OVER!

I will be headed out in October to handle the merchandising for 101 Dalmatians. We don't really know what to expect, because this is a brand new show, but that's what makes it even more exciting!

If you live in a major U.S. city, there's a good chance I'll be coming through. And I'm staying put for one to three weeks in each city, so unlike Superstar, I might actually be able to see you!

I will be in the following cities between October and June:

  • Minneapolis
  • Appleton
  • Atlanta
  • D.C.
  • Detroit
  • Austin
  • Dallas
  • Boston
  • Miami (for New Years Eve- love it)
  • Birmingham
  • Nashville
  • East Lansing
  • Toronto
  • Chicago
  • Columbus
  • Indy
  • Providence
  • Wallingford
  • NYC
  • San Antonio
  • Kansas City
  • Pittsburgh
  • San Diego
  • L.A.

Hopefully I'll be seeing a lot of you soon!
